Area Support Head Chef – Central and North London
We are seeking a passionate and qualified head chef to join the senior management team working as an area support chef across London.
This will be a hands on role providing support to a number of teams and homes across the London and surrounding areas. The successful chef will need to be happy with overnight stays and flexibility to travel across the London area and support where necessary. All travel expenses are paid for along with a competitive basic salary.
Residents come first at Care UK. We ensure our residents diets are varied. We like to offer exciting and vibrant menus to suit nutritional and palliative needs. But most importantly we get to know our residents, all our menus are bespoke and tailored to the residents, therefore menus across our homes are all different; after all we all have different tastes.
The ideal chef Care UK are seeking would be someone who is compassionate and personable. We would envisage our chef to want to connect with residents, enabling relationships to be built, as well as learning personal tastes and palliative needs. A chef who is passionate about creating home cooked food using fresh seasonal ingredients and is able to deliver this both in main and puree form. Essentially having good knowledge of dysphagia foods. All our residents dine with dignity and enjoy what they are eating. It’s essential the successful chef understands that it’s not just about presentation but also about texture, colour, smell all of these are just as important as one another.
Experience and attributes desired:
Food related qualifications (craft or technical) HND, City & Guilds or NVQ L3
Full knowledge of nutritional, palliative cooking-including good knowledge of dysphagia
Strong managerial and leadership skills
Experience working with fresh seasonal produce
Good menu implementation
Have the ability to raise standards through innovation methods
Experience within the healthcare sector would be advantageous
